Tim Skuldbøl

Tim Skuldbøl is an independent researcher. He studied Near Eastern Archaeology and Egyptology at University of Copenhagen and completed his PhD in 2010 and post-doctoral research in 2014.

His main fields of interest are the development and organisation of urban societies in the ancient Near East and Africa, cultural encounters and heritage management. In Sudan, his research focuses on the rise of early Medieval Christian and Iron Age Napatan states.

He is the director of the Danish Archaeological Expedition to Iraq (DAEI), which investigates the world’s earliest urban societies in Mesopotamia and assists in monitoring and protecting archaeological heritage in Iraq.
